Health and Social Protection Employees Union of Serbia has existed since
1978 (until then it existed under the name the Union of Social (Public)
Sector. It became a legal person in 1991.
The Union is an autonomous organization of interest, independent of
state organs, political parties and employers.
It is a signatory of the first collective labour agreement in the health
and social protection sector in 1991.
By collective labour agreement rights of the employed were increased,
work hours shortened and additional coefficient related to the special
work conditions defined; collective insurance of the employed was
achieved, recreation holidays free of charge provided for, as well as
the right to receive support and assistance, and good conditions for
union activities.
At the time when all others withdrew the Union kept on struggling for
the rights of the employed by organizing protests, strikes, inviting the
employed not to vote those who disrespect laws, collective agreements
and others reached with the Union.
The Union cooperates constantly with other unions in the health sector
and other public services. This also applies to the health and social
protection unions in the new states formed from the ex-Yugoslav
republics.
We are affiliated to the PSI that organizes more than 20 million
workers.
We organize seminars and other meetings where we enrich our knowledge
that helps us to influence successfully those who take decisions on our
future.
We have built a system of a regular information of our members by our
magazine and through the information activities of our organs in the
districts and cities.
We also organize “The health gatherings” as traditional manifestation
where our members get together, compete in different sports and
recreate.
The strategic goal of the Union is to improve the material position of
the employed and to provide for the security of their jobs.
We are now more than 80.000. Let us grow bigger.
United we can achieve more. |
